* Passing the peace serves as more than a mere greeting; it is an expression of Christ’s love. For almost two millennia, the Church has observed this tradition, frequently in preparation for communion. At Cornerstone, passing the peace is a tangible representation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his kingdom. Within this context, believers pursue forgiveness, reconciliation, and mutual edification as disciples of King Jesus and bear witness to life in the kingdom. The grace and mercy received from God are extended to those nearby. Ultimately, this practice contributes to forming participants into the likeness of Jesus Christ, who is the Prince of Peace.
How do we do this during the service? Turn to those around you and say, “The peace of Christ be with you.” And the person responds, “And also with you.”
